Welcome 2015 Seminar Provides Diverse Insights for Home-grown Entrepreneurs
For immediate release

SINGAPORE: 13 February 2015 ─ Invited guests and members of the public attended the Welcome 2015 seminar held on 2 February 2015. Jointly organised by the Chio Lim Stone Forest group and DBS Bank, the seminar celebrated Singapore's SG50 milestone, acknowledged the economic contributions of Singapore's pioneer entrepreneurs, and recognised the importance of unlocking future entrepreneurial potential through a lively debate fuelled by perspectives from two diverse and highly respected panels of speakers.

The seminar, titled "SG50: Building the Foundation for Home-grown Entrepreneurs for the Next 50 Years", drew overwhelming consensus that Singapore's future economic success depended on the ability of local entrepreneurs to innovate, survive and thrive. This meant being hard-headed to re-examine one's personal traits and reflecting on the sustainability of a domestic-centric business model. It also meant taking greater risks and seizing opportunities to make a name and establish a global footprint.

Both panel discussions explored controversial issues that challenge today's entrepreneurs. Panellists shared their views on passion, ambition, courage and knowledge as the requisite qualities for success.

Discussions also included ways to inspire positive 'greediness' in the next generation for encouraging entrepreneurship, how to balance commercial pursuits with social responsibilities, as well as how to be bold, thinking big and not allowing setbacks to dampen the entrepreneurial spirit. Another interesting perspective was the need for entrepreneurs to build their opportunity quotient and in doing so, level up and overcome threats to business success.

The interactive seminar was a resounding success, with many participants expressing satisfaction with the deep insights gained from the panel discussions.
