United Overseas Bank, Rajah & Tann Asia and RSM Chio Lim Launch Advisory Portal and Guidebook for Businesses Expanding into ASEAN 

United Overseas Bank, Rajah & Tann Asia and RSM Chio Lim launched the “Business in ASEAN” Advisory Portal and the "Doing Business in ASEAN" Guidebook at the inaugural ASEAN Conference 2015 on 20 May 2015.

With the theme of “Growth Opportunities in an Integrated ASEAN”, the event was attended by over 600 business owners and senior executives from Singapore and the region. Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore, delivered the keynote address. 

The Minister said that AEC 2015 will bring significant opportunities and hence the government will be providing resources to help our companies become more ready for the AEC. MTI will continue to work with trade associations and chambers to find ways to help our companies take advantage of the benefits of the AEC.

The Minister recognised that ASEAN Conference 2015 is one such platform that will enable more of our companies to prepare for and capitalise on the AEC to expand and grow their businesses outside Singapore.

The "Business in ASEAN" Advisory Portal ( addresses key concerns and provides insights into frequently asked questions on investment, legal, financial and tax matters. The “Doing Business in ASEAN” Guidebook serves as a useful reference for business owners and investors seeking to learn more about ASEAN and its member states, as well as about existing regional initiatives and those that are still under negotiations.

"The AEC will bring about greater integration of the region's economy as a single market and production base that offers exciting growth prospects. The Advisory Portal and Guidebook aim to empower businesses looking to use Singapore as investment and trade springboards to the region and help them land confidently and on a firm footing," said Mr Tay Woon Teck, Partner of RSM Chio Lim LLP.
